Video – In the morning, you will storyboard and video a 30 second advertisement. The advertisement will encourage the public to volunteer some of their own time for free to the SPCA. You will be provided with ideas to help get you planning prior to the conference day. In the afternoon, you will edit your movie footage taken in the morning session and complete your 30 second ad.
Podcasting – You will plan a script and record an advertisement for radio. The ad should give children ideas for raising money for the SPCA. The ad will be 30 seconds in length and you can use sound effects to enhance your ad.
Digital Photography – You will learn about different camera angles, shot types and other tips for using the digital camera. You will then move around the SPCA photographing the animals and the workers doing their job. Photos you take will be used by the afternoon group to create posters and also be used for the newsletter and Blog site.
Interviewing Skills – You will learn techniques and tips for being a great interviewer, then practice your skills interviewing some of the SPCA staff.
Newsletter creation – You will move around the SPCA photographing and getting quotes from the teachers and students participating in the Kids Conference. You will put the happenings of the morning into a newsletter format which will be distributed to all students in our Cluster as a means to share our day with everyone who missed out.
Digital Poster – You will use the photos taken by the morning digital photography group to create a poster for the Annual SPCA appeal week (which is held in November). The purpose of this week is to raise awareness of the role of the SPCA in our society. This poster may be used by the SPCA as their actual poster during that week in November.
